What now?

Last night history was made in America and a lot of it was really good news.

As a country we have gone from the days where a black man had to sit in the back of the bus to a African American sitting at the most powerful desk in America (maybe the world).

We have elected our 44th president - and that alone is a blessing.

We have once again seen the democratic process work - whether we agree or disagree with the results we need to be grateful for the system.

We have reason to praise the Lord. I know some reading this will be "down in the dumps" today. But I have to ask why? Do we believe that our going into a private booth and writing down a name is really all this is about? Have we forgotten that it is God Himself who set's leaders in place?

(Rom 13:1 NIV) Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

This is not to say we don't challenge them if we feel they are wrong. And it may call for times of social injustice when the rule contradicts God's law. But it is clear in Scripture that God has a hand in such matters.

And make no mistake about this... Barack Obama is our President elect because God has ordained it.

So what do we need to do now?

Pray. Pray for him and his family. Pray for the newly elected officials that will join in him governing this great country. Pray for this country - we have some serious issues. Pray that God will use this new administration to bring this nation back to Himself. It may be through revival or tribulation. Pray that God be glorified.
